Checking Your Windows Version

If you are not sure your computer's version of Windows meets the ThomsonNOW system requirements, here's how to check it.

To check your Windows Version

On your Windows desktop, right-click My Computer.
Select Properties.
Go to the General tab.
The System information displays your Operating system (for example "Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2").

Changing Windows Display Settings

ThomsonNOW's pages are designed for use with a screen resolution of 800 by 600 or more. It takes just a few quick steps to check or change this setting.

To change Display Settings in Windows

Right-click on your desktop.
Select Properties. The Display Properties window opens.
Go to the Settings tab.
Drag the Screen resolution slider to 800 by 600 or more.
Click OK.

Setting the Windows System Date and Time

If your computer's date and time settings are substantially different from those of your local network or the ThomsonNOW server, you may have trouble signing in to ThomsonNOW. There are two ways to check your system for the correct date and time and reset them if necessary.

To set the system date and time in Windows

Double-click the time on your Windows Taskbar, or right-click and select Adjust Date/Time.
Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Date and Time. (If using the default XP Start menu, go to Start > Control Panel > Date and Time.)
