Step 2: Enter your Course Key or Content Access Code
There are two kinds of codes that can give you access to ThomsonNOW:
- A Course Key is an alphanumeric code that grants you access to class material in ThomsonNOW. Typically, the instructor provides this code on a printed syllabus at your first class or sends it to you via e-mail. The Course Key always begins with the capital letter E, followed by an alphanumeric string (for example, E-49EZW228NZ443).
Note: This is an example only and not a usable Course Key.
- A Content Access Code (sometimes called a passcode or PIN code) is an alphanumeric code that gives you access to all of ThomsonNOW's online materials for your Thomson textbook. This code is typically packaged with a new book; it can also be purchased separately from your bookstore or online.
You can use either code or both codes to create your user account.
To enter a Course Key only
To enter a Content Access Code only
- Select the option button under Content Access Code.
An input box appears below the option.
- Type the code exactly as it was provided to you. (It is case sensitive; be sure to type uppercase letters.)
- Click Continue.
Note: Most Thomson Content Access Codes can be used only once and for a specified period only. If you bought the book used, the previous owner will probably have used the code. If so, you can buy a new code for your book online from Thomson. Visit http://e-catalog.thomsonlearning.com/112 for information.
To enter both a Course Key and a Content Access Code
In some cases, you might have both a Content Access Code, to unlock the online materials for your textbook, and a Course Key, to give you access to your instructor's class. You can enter them both when you register.
- Select the option button under Course Key and Content Access Code.
Input boxes appear below the option.
- For the Course Key, type an uppercase E in the first input box. In the second input box, type the rest of the code exactly as provided by your instructor. (It is case sensitive; be sure to type uppercase letters.)
- In the Content Access Code input box, type the code exactly as it was provided to you. (It is case sensitive; be sure to type uppercase letters.)
- Click Continue. This takes you to the next step of the registration process.
Note: If you have more than one Content Access Code or Course Key, you can enter the additional codes after you have registered.
